How to Take a Break from Blogging

As spring approaches, many of us will be inclined to clean out our lives, book holidays and spruce up areas that have been left neglected over winter. Unfortunately, as a blogger taking a break to indulge in these sorts of activities can be a bit challenging. After all, who is going to run your blog whilst you’re off on holiday? Of course, you don’t need an excuse to take a break from blogging. Sometimes you just need to take a step back to really fall back in love with your blog, especially if you’ve been blogging for a long time.

Prepare Your Blog Posts

Before you do go on hiatus, you may want to prepare you blog. If you are dedicated to your site and wish to see it thrive then you should write articles and schedule them to be posted during your break. This is a particularly good idea if you have a large following as your readers will probably be curious about what you have to say and share. Plus, let’s be honest: it’s easy to start feeling guilty if we leave our followers with no content. Alternatively, you can always re-post older pieces or even contact others to write guest posts for your site.

Spend Your Internet Hours Somewhere Else

The Internet is a wonderful creation, but when you spend most of your life trawling through blogs and researching topics it can really lose its edge. So, instead of heading straight to Bloglovin’ or Tumblr, why not visit Stumbleupon for inspiration or even play some online games? There are quite literally thousands of websites these days that will help you appreciate just how fun the Internet can be. For instance, there are online casinos like mFortune that provide newbies with free no deposit spins you can spend on slot games, which include Sherlock and the Fruit Machine classic so you can play without spending a penny.

Get Outside, Not Online

Obviously, if you spend a lot of your time on the web you may want to spend your break away from your computer. During your hiatus, why not travel around where you live, visit places you’ve never been before and go exploring in the great outdoors? Reconnecting with nature and those around you can have huge benefits for your body, mind and work. You could even take photographs to share when you inevitably feel the urge to blog again, or even just to keep to yourself as something special and intimate, to remind you that breaks from blogging can be fun.

Although many may think that blogging is a walk in the park, we know that it can be as demanding, time-consuming and exhausting as any other career – especially if you are now a public figure, which we’re sure was a happy surprise. So, make sure you do take breaks whenever you feel a little run down, otherwise your content isn’t going to be filled with the passion and care you and your readers deserve. Everyone deserves a holiday now and again, and that includes bloggers!

I decided against the 9 - 5 grind so I can travel around the world and share my journey. Love people, music, writing and enjoying life. Share your thoughts.
